Tree Planting

National Tree Day is this Sunday the 29 July. This national event is organised by Planet Ark and to see a list of events go to the http://treeday.planetark.org/
 
We finally got around to planting our trees on the holidays. Isla, loved the experience and was very happy to dig, plant and water. We planted an apple and an orange tree in very sandy soil. They are doing really well so far, but as we are very close to the beach will need some protection. We are watering them with worm tea and giving them lots of attention.

Planet Ark have recently conducted research into the benefits of connecting kids with nature, really interesting reading.

 This beautiful tree made by my girls is made from recylced paper and old books from the op shop.
