Hi, welcome to Sowing the Seed.This blog sets out to explore the topic of Sustainability.

Sustainability has evolved out of need. Following the 1983 World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) a report named ' Our Common Future' was published and the term 'sustainability' became internationally recognised. The need to assist communities in becoming sustainable is more urgent today than it has ever been. 'The signposts are clear. We need to change dramatically, beginning with how we think about our relationship to each other, to the future generations, and to the ecosystems that support us' (UN, 2012). A particular focus of this blog will be on Sustainable Community Development which incorporates my interest in teaching 'sustainability' in schools. It will offer up to date resources, information and news around sustainability and an opportunity for community input!
